What is Biosphere?

Biosphere is an internationally recognized certification program that empowers businesses & organizations to embrace sustainability, ensuring they play a vital role in preserving the planet and helping to achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda. 

How did we achieve certification?

We worked with the amazing team at TOTA (our regional Tourism DMO) to upload evidence of our environmental and social sustainability initiatives over the course of the last two years, ensuring we had taken steps to address each one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals outlined by the UN.

What are some key initiatives at Planet Bee which supported our certification?

Sharing the amazing world of the honey bee, and the importance of all pollinators to the ecosystem and human well-being has always been a core message of Planet Bee.  We recognize that without a thriving natural environment and thriving pollinators, our business could not exist.

Through educational presentations, guided walks through our bee-friendly gardens, and engaging with visitors to answer their most buzzing questions, each visit is an opportunity to share our knowledge and best-practices!

Pollinator Sanctuary

Planting is well underway on our newly announced Pollinator Sanctuary, where we will provide a safe haven for honey bees, native pollinators, as well as birds and other critters.  The space will be nature-inspired and offer a chance to walk amongst buzzing pollinators, smell and witness native plant species, and appreciate the interconnectedness of all living things.  

In closing, achieving Biosphere Certification recognizes the hard work of our amazing team and the positive example we strive to create.  We hope our achievement will inspire individuals and businesses alike to make a positive difference in the world.
